The WCIRB’s regulatory filing takes effect on September 1, 2024, and State Fund will adopt upcoming changes to classifications and other regulations.
This year’s filing includes the addition of new classifications for the food and beverage industry. Starting on September 1st, operations previously assignable to class code 9079 Restaurants or Taverns, must be reassigned to one of the following six new classifications:
- 9058: Hotels, Motels or Short-Term Residential Housing – food or beverage employees
- 9080: Restaurants – full service
- 9081(1): Restaurants – N.O.C.
- 9082: Caterers – not restaurants
- 9083: Restaurants – fast food or fast casual
- 9084: Bars or Taverns – not restaurants
To help determine the classification that applies to your clients, this helpful interactive tool from the WCIRB will guide you through a series of questions. Additional resources and detailed information about the changes are also available from the WCIRB.
For risks with policy effective dates on or before August 31, 2024, please continue to use the 9079 classification for new food and beverage submissions to State Fund.
This regulatory filing does not impact State Fund’s rates and minimum premiums.
